School of parking

Do you know how to correctly park your car? Here you have few examples.

Driver and codriver are invalids.

They work with Martin Strel.

Bicycle - red zone

too much

You must open the doors and go through the van.

If you still have a problem, join part-time lessons at police academy in Tacen.

Double P.

Two weeks ago I took this picture: "Dušan P is studying PLSQL"

Today Igor P and I were working together on our database lesson.

Students from Finland

We have on practice work few students from Finland in our department at Iskra Avtoelektrika. As you know I work in electronic unit. We have three of them. They come from Helsinki. I don't know their names because they are difficult to say and also to remember. They attend 3rd class of secondary school at Helsinki and they are 18 or 19 years old. They become finomechanics (like mechatronics in Slovenia) and they are exhibitioners of Nokia.
One of them works with me at control workplace. He is very precise and I like this. At this kind of work where you test electronics for car industry, you must be very precise. You must check everything. In one of my posts I described platform lift. This controller must be tested in different ways on different positions and we must also test it with simulator. Human who use this lift must be SAFE!!!
My current "teammate" also ask me questions. A lot of them. This is also good practice for me, because I must tell him everything he ask me. In English of course. It is nice talking with him. He know a lot of things about electronic and computers. I really enjoy when we work together.
They work with us last three weeks. This Thursday they will return to Finland. After two months will become another group of students also from Finland.
Then I will write another post about them...

Second life

Second life is a 3D digital world. But at this time I will say something about my second life or second opportunity. I was born in 1977. My life is very complicated (halth). But maybe I will tell you about this in any other time at any other place. My second life started four years ago. Exactlly on the 31 October 2003. Now I am almost four years old. And in this time I was finished secondary school at TŠC.
Four years ago I had an accident at my work. It was usually day like any other. I worked at Iskra and suddenly I fell down. After some medical examination they gave me diagnose. I had cyst on very dangerous place. Between my heart and lungs. Two month later I was prepared for operation at Hospital in Ljubljana. This was a kind of routine operation. But in this case everything went wrong.
Between operation my heart stopped. Staff in operation room gave me immediately heart message and after few minutes they reestabilished situation. And it was stopped again. This was happened five times. But persistence of staff was repayed. I was back. I didn't remember any white light and any tunnel. The only thing that I remember is one little girl. She was sitting on my bed when I was in intense-room. But anyone didn't see her. I was the only person who saw her. I saw her just one week later at my room in Šempeter. Is she my guardian angel? After three months I talked about this with priest. And he told me that she maybe gave me the second chance.
Today I live my second life. And it isn't 3D digital world. It is the real one. And I love it.

The April 22 is Earth Day

The celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd began in the United States in 1970 and was the brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson. There are actually two Earth Day celebrations. The other one is held in March on the equinox.

April 22 is Earth Day, which is now celebrated in most countries over the world. Earth Day is a perfect time to reflect about what you are doing to help protect the environment. There are many ways that you can celebrate alone and with others.

Plant trees helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, clean pollution, secure soil in place to prevent erosion, and provide homes for a lot of biodiversity.

Remember: Every day is Earth Day. Anything to help our environment is a perfect thing to do on Earth Day and every day. Don't restrict yourself to just one day a year!

Think about...

John Deere rewarded us again

American-based global corporation John Deere, world’s leading manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment, has again awarded Iskra Avtoelektrika a “Partner-Level” Award for Excellence for supplies in 2006. We received this award for the third time as a supplier of starters and alternators based on the John Deere supplier assessment system evaluating the product quality, delivery, technical support, improvements and communications. This award is a very important reference for Iskra Avtoelektrika and is a sign that we are on the right route towards achieving quality of products and after sales services.

New controllers and new problems

Today I had hard day at work. We made new controllers which are used for starting electric motors on boat. I think that this is for customer from Netherlad. They need boats in their fiords and when they come to city zone, they must turn off diesel motors and start electric motors.
So I must worked on this case whole day. First of all I must checked all electrical schemes and found important testing points. Then I checked all charging lines and also signals on phases. And what did I ascertain? That something is wrong on controller. Now I am waiting that optic control-machine test controller again and find a mistake. Here is too much elements for search after error with my eyes... :-(

Cerknica Lake

I chose picture of the day with "Cerknica Lake" theme. And I also shot a scene with bear here. So it is time to say something about this lake.

Cerknica Lake is an intermittent lake and covers 26 km^2 when is full - even up to 38 km^2. It is 10 km long and 5 km wide. That makes it the largest lake in Slovenia.

Cerknica Lake - a Karst disappearing lake is also famous. It is a lake for half the year in which one can fish and in winter, skate on the frozen surface. It starts to disappear in spring and leaves behind a field where farmers cut hay through the summer. The causes of the drying out of this natural curiosity, already famous in classical times, were studied more than three hundred years ago by the natural and social historian, Janez Vajkard Valvasor. His report encouraged great interest and he was elected a member of the Royal Society in London for his interpretations

In long years of studying Cerknica Lake, Vekoslav Kebe had made living model of this misterious lake. Model is unique in choice of material. It's the first presentation which shows functioning of disappearing Cerknica Lake and exactly ilustrates state in nature. By expert's opinion it's a creation which contains in large measure author's personal creativity. While we are looking at the model we also hear original sounds of nature along with interesting explanation. Museum also includes literature, ethnological collection and multivision (presents lake in all four seasons).

Model of the lake Cerknica introduces karstic phenomena of the intermittent lake. It is made in scale of 1:2500 and size 3 x 5 m and shows lake conditions in dry and rainy periods.
Listen to a commentary lasting approximately 45 minutes ( available in slovene and several other languages ) you learn all about the formation and disappearance of intermittent Lake Cerknica. While viewing the water system on the model you will simultaneusly hear recordings of sounds from the nature ( birds, other animals etc. ). The unique model of the lake has turistic, educational and cultural purposes.

Have a nice day.

The platform lifts

In our Electronics department at Iskra Avtoelektrika we also make controllers for the platform lift with curved rail and fixed or variable gradient. Platform lifts are ideal solutions to make all parts of the home or other private building accessible and allowing people in wheelchairs to enjoy an adequate social life.

We make two different models. V65 and V55.
Model V65 is extremly suitable. It has been designed for easy use. This model can be equipped with a console for programming the track or with display which shows messages to identify any faults. Maximal speed is 5m/min. It is used for transporting people with wheelchairs.
Model V55 can be fitted to all types of stairs with fixed or variable gradient. It is smaller than Model V65. It is also faster. Maximal speed is 6,5m/min.

Peripherals - part one

How computer mice work?

Mice first broke onto the public stage with the introduction of the Apple Macintosh in 1984, and since then they have helped to completely redefine the way we use computers. Every day of your computing life, you reach out for your mouse whenever you want to move your cursor or activate something. Your mouse senses your motion and your clicks and sends them to the computer so it can respond appropriately.

Optical mice.

Developed by Agilent Technologies and introduced to the world in late 1999, the optical mouse actually uses a tiny camera to take thousands of pictures every second. Able to work on almost any surface without a mouse pad, most optical mice use a small, red light-emitting diode (LED) that bounces light off that surface onto a complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor. In addition to LEDs, a recent innovation are laser-based optical mice that detect more surface details compared to LED technology. This results in the ability to use a laser-based optical mouse on even more surfaces than an LED mouse. Here's how the sensor and other parts of an optical mouse work together:
The CMOS sensor sends each image to a digital signal processor (DSP) for analysis.
The DSP detects patterns in the images and examines how the patterns have moved since the previous image.
Based on the change in patterns over a sequence of images, the DSP determines how far the mouse has moved and sends the corresponding coordinates to the computer.
The computer moves the cursor on the screen based on the coordinates received from the mouse. This happens hundreds of times each second, making the cursor appear to move very smoothly

Optical mice have several benefits over track-ball mice:
No moving parts means less wear and a lower chance of failure.
There's no way for dirt to get inside the mouse and interfere with the tracking sensors.
Increased tracking resolution means a smoother response.
They don't require a special surface, such as a mouse pad.

Peripherals - intro

Peripherals are those pieces of hardware that you add on to your computer. Despite their name, peripherals are often central to the computing experience. For instance, where would you be without your monitor, mouse or keyboard?

About me

Hello everyone!

My name is Matej Maček. I live in Šempeter. I am 29 years old. I work in Iskra Avtoelektrika in Šempeter. I work as controller in Drive systems, exactly in Electronic unit.

In my spare time I like to go in woods. Our familly have a weekend house in Selšček. This is small vilege near Cerknica. This is a kind of place that fits me. I like to film wild animals from our woods. Specially bears. Sometimes I film it from my balcony. It is safe up there. Yesterday I filmed mother-bear with three cubies. I saw them at woods near Cerknica lake.

This year I joined the 2 years part-time course at vocational college of informatics. If I succesfully end this college and graduate I become an engineer of informatics. Because I have a job I must pay for education lessons. The lessons are usually held in the afternoon time at Nova Gorica Technical School Center.

Best regards, Matej.
